What separates Linus' ad placements from others

I've been watching linus tech tips for alittle over a year now. And one thing I've noticed is that they handle their ad placements WAY differently then other youtubers. For example audible with linus vs with amazingatheist:

 

 

 

You can immediately tell that the ad placement in the amazingatheists video is an ad, cut, dry, and a simple ad placement. But with linus' ad placement you can tell that he actually is using it, having fun with the ad placement, and is more engaging and personal.

With The Young Turks it's

  • Dry
  • Impersonal
  • Uninformative
  • Painful to watch

With Linus

  • Fun
  • Engaging/personal
  • Informative
  •  Actually enjoyable to watch

Some people are going to say "who cares they are just ad placements, stop trying to suck up to linus", and they may be right. But when you watch 10+ videos with ad placements that are all boring and dry then it's awesome to see someone that has fun with it and makes it a better watching experience.

 

All in all this is just a post to say thank you to linus and his team for making ad placements a good experience and actually things that I want to use, if I had the money.

 

Also this is not an attack on the young turks or amazingatheist, they just provide good examples.

Actually, I find it kind of annoying how Linus transitions into the ads at the end of the videos. It seems as if he is going into more information, but it's just an ad.

 

I gotta say though, they are damn good transitions.

Linus just seems to roll with it, whether he screws up the ad spot COMPLETELY or not, he puts his personal touch in and quite often may incorporate humour (bad puns, etc).

 

I quite enjoy Linus' ad spots, and look forward to see what he comes up with next. The Fractal Design ad spots for Techquickie are a good laugh, too.

LTT is the only channel that i don't skip the adds at the beginning/end. Linus always finds a way to make what he is speaking about both intriguing and funny! B)

I am also one who really enjoys the ads on LTT. Regardless if they get screwed up - they are funny, light hearted, easily keep your attention and get all the proper info across. I think that the way Linus and crew do them are the best I've seen in a long time.

They're entertaining, informative, persuasive and professional. If I didn't live in Japan, I'd be on the dollar shave club thing.

 

Dollar Shave Club has to be in every country.

Maybe there's a Hyakuen Hige-sori-bu here...

 

I seriously doubt it...

and anyway, I get a bulk pack of gillette pros with 14 heads here for ¥1700. That will last me well beyond my stay here and it's better value than DSC.

Though tbh I have no idea how good DSC's blades are... they might be way better...

A pack of 8 costs me around the same money here. Although I make them last forever by employing the @SlickPC method of shaving, meaning I don't change the blades. Ever.

Linus' ad integrations are funny and actually not boring to watch. I especially like the Fractal Design ones with the pie and water cannon.

From my understanding the young turks are basically liberal porn so meh, fuck em. They'll get annoyed/offended at everything, just make sure you post this thread in one of their comments or on their forums (if they even have one)

This is the reason that crappy ads are going to go the way of the dinosaur.  The higher the quality of the ad placement and presentation, the more likely the viewer is going to accept it and in turn purchase/try out the good/service.

 

If an ad is just noise that is using my CPU cycles for something that I am not interested in, I am going to resent it and lash out.  If the ad placement is seamless, even if I am not interested, I am not going to have an adverse reaction to it.
