No Picture/Signal

Turned on my folding rig and notice one of the fans were rattling. 

Opened it up and saw the fan plugged into the mobo so I just unplugged it.

The computer was running and just froze.

Now when I turn it on I don't get a signal (LED's and everything are on).

Also tried onboard graphics.

Weird, it's not the first time I see this problem here. Who would have thought unplugging a fan would cause such problems... I'd say try unplugging the power cord for a while and clearing CMOS, then try again.

No idea what has happened. Only thing I can even think of is dying mobo? Yeah like above, clear cmos and see what happens.

Thanks guys. Cleared CMOS (had to unistall gpu to get to it and use screw driver because I don't have a jumper  -_-)

Didn't work :(

Removed the power cable, 24pin and 8pin cpu power.

Also treid putting the fan back in just because.

Do you get any beeps as I guess it's not posting. Try and find out what the beeps mean from your mobo manufactures code.

I didn't notice any beeps because I didn't have a mobo speaker installed.

I got speaker out of my drawer, installed it and turned it on.

 

I'm getting 3 consecutive 2 second beeps followed by a pause then 3 beeps again repeated. Sounds bad :/ 

Ill check the manual and post my findings.

Manual says:

 

"Continuous long beeps: Graphics card not inserted properly"

 

I've uninstalled both 5850's and now running from onboard graphics but I still have the same beeping.

Could be a problem with a RAM stick or slot. Try booting with one stick at a time, in different slots.

Tried a completley different 8gb memory kit. No cigar.

 

 

It's not the 5850's because they're unistalled.

its not the memory i tried a different kit.

It's not the bios because thats been reset.

It's not the SSD because then I would atleast get a boot menu.

I doubt its the PSU.

 

I suspect the mobo is bricked.

 

 

Ill try a spare PSU. I'll drop a 7970 into the mobo, I'll try another Phenom II x6 1090t I have in the drawer and I'll try boot from USB.

^ These are all long shots but it's the last thing I can think of before I scrap the mobo.

Yeah then I guess it's the worst from what I first thought, a dying mobo... Sucks mate :(

turn the pc off completley at the wall. turn the monitor on. wait for no siganal and then wait to see how long it takes to go into standby.

now turn it off and on again. this time when you see no signal hit the power on the pc. if the monitor jumps immediately into standby your cpu is likely dead. if it takes the same amount of time as normal. then its likely motherboard related. but i would still try the cpu in another pc just to make sure its not dead as a faulty socket can cause a dead like cpu.

Dropped in a spare 1090t, no more beeping.

 

Not sure whether it was coincidental or unplugging the fan while the computer was running actually killed my CPU, but either way I have learnt...

DO NOT UNPLUG THINGS WHILE THE COMPUTER IS RUNNING even if its just a fan -_-
