I'm sure this topic has been posted a million times but...

With the release of Project cars I have decided to get more into racing games and my 360 controller just is not cutting it.

I have been looking at the popular Logitech G27 (currently $230 CAD)

But I have noticed alternatives by Fanatac or Thrustmaster

Not quite sure on price, something around the price of the G27 would be ideal, I would be happy with less and good go higher if it is worth it

I am looking to get a wheel, pedals, and a shifter, a 3 pedal system is preferred but not necessary

Thanks in advance for your help, Canadianultra

Thats a pretty big step down from the G27

not sure how much the person is willing to spend on a wheel but if someone had a 150 dollar budget for one then this would be a good one. The G27 is really good but sadly i already have a racing wheel and it's good enough for me.

At least it has 900 degree rotation. Mine can't even do half that.

I would recommend getting a rig if you've got the space.

I have the Driving Force GT. It's actually a really nice wheel. The only thing that I find myself missing from the G25 on the other side of the house is the 6-speed shifter.

@canadianultra

The G27 is definitely worth the price. It's the benchmark arcade racing wheel and is an awesome piece of hardware. You might be able to find a cheap second-hand G25 like I did, if you really wish to save some bucks

If you can afford it Fanatec.de is definitely going to give you the best experience out there. Their stuff is top notch! G27 is acceptable but nowhere near the same wonderful experience that the Fanatec equipment brings you.

What about Thrustmaster's T500RS?

I've been a simracer for a really long time and used many wheels. I currently have T500RS and complete FREX GP gear. G27 is a terrific wheel for starters but difference between T500 and G27 is night and day. If you can afford the T500, get it. The second most important thing is pedals. Stock T500 pedals are pretty good especially with the included brake mod but make sure your next upgrade would be the pedals. You can always keep the stock pedals and upgrade them with John Bodin Load-Cell mod. You're going to be hearing this word -loadcell- a lot! :) Don't even think about getting Fanatec, none of their products deserve their price and customer service and RMA is just horrible. Me and my friends on simracing community all prefer T500 over Fanatec gear. I tried all of them including their Clubsport line.

The Clubsport V2 pedals from Fanatec are an exception though. You can upgrade to them later.

You can add custom rims to T500 or G27 with Derek Speare's wheel adaptor, like this:

I currently have Momo Mod 78 and Mod 27 on mine.

What about Thrustmaster's T500RS?

They're nice, definitely a lot nicer than the G27, but still a long way from Fanatec IMO. It is however also a lot cheaper (considering what you want is at least the GT2 + Clubsport V2 pedals). I have to disagree with the above post, I have had nothing but good experiences with Fanatec.

Umm, the guy above you begs to differ. He claims Fanatec is shit.

I just edited my post after reading that and as I said I disagree.

Let's just agree to disagree.

if can't bring yourself to spend the $200 plus on the g27, Driving force is not bad for the money, especially if you only have one game and only it once in awhile.

I just couldn't justify it for Euro truck sim or Grid 2.

Pretty much what aduman said.

If you have the money, get the T500rs.

I'm also planning on upgrading from my G25 and I'm getting the T500rs + Ferrari 458 GTE addon or maybe an aftermarket wheel with the DSD adaptor.

However, if you don't got the money, get the G27. Hands down the best wheel in its price-range.

Too bad they don't make anymore the Thrustmaster RGT, I got one for 50€ and one for 35€, the paddles are pretty fragile but I learned how to fix them properly and it's an awesome cheap wheel with clutch pedal and everything, almost at the same level as the G25, the only missing thing is a good gearbox.
