Why the hell did Google/Youtube do this?

Since the Google+ comment system was forced upon us comments have been getting thumbs up, even hateful comments.

This really made the comments 1000x worse.

My question is

Why in the hell did those people think it was a good idea to put a dislike button on Youtube comments?

It doesn't work, it simply doesn't work at all.

This is truly one of the most useless implementations of ANYTHING I have ever seen.

This means that the racist/bigot/hate filled comments are always going to be at the top and nobody can dislike it so it won't show.

Actually these comments won't be at the top because they also broke the "Top Comment" thing and now it just pulls them out of a hat. I don't really read YT comments much anymore as the system is sort of hard to use.

don't read youtube comments.

noob.

It's unavoidable really.

But I would save myself a lot of headache.

Sometimes I make the mistake of reading 3 in a row and then I have to be hospitalized for a week due to brain damage.

But anyway, I just can't wrap my head around the fact that a company such as Google did something so plain DUMB.

You know there's a 'flag for spam' button for a reason, right? Try using it instead of complaining about irrelevant things.

It's not irrelevant. Wtf.

How couild a company like Google keep a useless thing like a dislike button when it doesn't work.

It makes no sense. Just remove it altogether or make it work.

dislikes and likes are the same thing, they are engagement ratings.

if something is offensive you click flag for spam

This doesn't have anything to do with google or youtube. The problem is the people posting the shit comments.

Except that can't be fixed, people posting those comments I mean.

Also flagging for spam is a different function for actual spam, the dislike should just work. Google should do something about it imo.

The like and dislike is for expressing opinions on a comment. If that comment is hateful or abusive, then that is what flag for spam is for. When it gets flagged by multiple people then that comments is automatically removed.

But still, why have the dislike button there if the flagging is there to solve it.... the dislike button is still useless.

I kinda wish this forum had a dislike button. It certainly would prevent many pointless arguments with people, I think. Have enough thumbs down hide the comment completely. But that's just me.

As for Youtube, I don't mind the dislike button. It feels nice to downvote someone spewing nonsense.

just like their stupid copyright algorithm, they have a retarted comments algorithm.  comments that get more views and likes (which are mostly stupid troll posts) stay on top of the page. the dislike button doesnt even do anything in this case. that is why pewDiPie disabled comments, because the retarted algorithm made all the hate/troll comments pop up top, and for Someone  who gets couple million views a day, all he could see was the hate.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

It would feel nice.

IF IT WORKED.

Shhhh...we have to believe!

Still, I'm not convinced the thumbs up on shitpost comments are even from legit users since bots are a problem all over the internet.
