760k is it worth it?

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

Sorry, for the late post, but I'm actually just playing GTA SA-MP becouse modern gamers sux (Maybe BF4 is ok, just haven't played it yet) I'm actually just rendering and prossecing Fraps videos

in that case, yes the FX-8320 is a better chip.

So, my cpu is bottlenecking and I was wondering if 760k will be good for my uses :

- Video rendering

- Video converting

- Playing games on Max/Ultra on 1080p (soon)

- Playing with ENB's

Rest of my system will be (I'll be addinga new cooler)

- Gigabyte R9 270 OC'd to 1100 and 1400

- 8 gigs of Crucial RAM

- MSI A55M - E33

- Hyper 212 Evo

Btw, Can I overclock my cpu with my MB?

I would definitely go to 990FX and take FX-8320/8350

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

get at least 6300, and dont buy evo

unless you allready have it, then keep it.

you can buy cpu cooler later

8320 would be really really  good if you could afford it

760k ir 69 euros and 8320 is 137, how much of an upgrade will it be form a 760 and 8320?

In regards to gaming, not much...but for rendering, encoding, transcoding...up to 100% better.

well its like twice as powerful

That depends purely on the workload...if 8 integer based instructions are processed THEN it can be AS MUCH as twice the performance...floating point based algorithm (video games...) they are both the same as each chip features the same 4 FPU.

yeah you are right :/ 8320 actually sucks for some games, but at least its cheap. for video editing its good choice. if you dont do it regularly then 760k is fine

I guess 150 euros won't be that bad for a 8320 and a Hyper 212 evo

which motherboard are you going with? given the fact that you need a new motherboard for the CPU i think you should consider an intel build this time what you think?
