The 290x will perform best of those three, but it would be better if you got 2 780s for 1440p

NEW PC build: Blank Heaven   minimalist white and black PC     Old S340 build log "White Heaven"        The "LIGHTCANON" flashlight build log        Project AntiRoll (prototype)        Custom speaker project

The team green in me says 780. Runs cooler, quieter, and you get the added software products Nvidia has with their GPUs. But that is only important if you would actually use them. That being said, 290x works better with higher res monitors, so yah. Do with that information what you wish.

You gonna be doing video editing / graphics editing? Get the 780. If you primarily game, the R9 290X.

290X for performance max, Nvidia for better Gforce experience over Raptr and runs cooler/less power requirements. This is coming from someone running two AMD CF setup they are power hungry and hot cards.

We can build it, we have the technology!

The R9 290X is the best pick, it's a more powerful faster GPU so i don't see why you would want a slower GTX 780 instead (unless you own a shield)

I personaly love my GTX 780 but i would trade for an R9 290X anyday, heck i would even trade for an R9 290 from sapphire or MSI.
