Question about a potential job.

So I am being interviewed for a work at home position at a tech support call center. My mom is freaking out though because they are requiring that I use my own computer. Is that normal, or irregular?

 

I personally don't have any issues with it. But to sate her paranoia I turn to you all.

It's pretty normal. 2 of my friends do the same and use their own PC. As long as you have an active anti-virus and things like that nothing can go wrong really.

I've seen it in the past, it's normal. Many times they send you a headset to work with.

Hell, I'd love it if I could use my personal computer for my office work. This 32-bit Windows on a 5400 rpm HDD drives me nuts.

 

The only thing I would think to be concerned about is if you're getting reimbursed in some way for electricity as you use your computer for work. But I suppose they would just argue that it's factored into your salary, so it's no biggie.

No, it is the most normal thing in the world. Does she expect them to send a PC to all of their at-home staff? Because that would be kind of ridiculous.

I use my (2nd) personal Laptop for my job which is primarily tech support/repair.
