I touched my thermal paste

DrFeel

So my new CPU came in today and I was just putting the Stock heatsink on when I accidentally touched the thermal paste. Would this affect anything?

Thanks.

It could. But as long as there were no empty spots after you touched it, then i'd say put it on and run your computer and just keep an eye on temps.

It could have a negative affect. It will work fine for just normal use, so get it all put together and once you have windows on it use core temp to check temps. Might want to run soemting like AIDA64 to stress the CPU and watch the temps. If everything seems ok, you are fine.

What CPU do you have? Just so we can try and help you out with what the temps should look like normally.

I think he meant the preapplied stuff on a stock cooler.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Thermal paste is made from a viscous oil and silicone dust or metal shavings.

It wont make a difference. Notice how all the people claiming that it "could" or does make a difference havent posted anything proving what they are saying to be true.

Wash your hands really well. You don't want that stuff getting in your body.

It also stains stuff pretty badly.
