so im looking at getting a 4K monitor which card do you think would have a better time at running 4k?

290X by far.

You won't be able to play at 4k with either of them. You need at least 2 GPUs if you want to play at high settings or ultra.

So dual R9 290x from sapphire would be the best choice

If you can afford it, yes...otherwise two R9 290 non X would still do very good but save you a lot of $$...

I'll repeat it again. I'm a nVidia fanboy, but here definitely two 290x's. Just make sure not to get the potato stock coolers or else your computer might actually turn into a baked potato.
