rog.asus hacked or malware

Hi,

 

Google now posts a warning on rog.asus.com that "This site may harm your computer" .  I accidently clicked on the link and it displayed a warning at the top of the page.  Is there a problem with the Republic of Gamers website?  Should I be concerned?

They might be having some security issues...not sure wtf is going on. I would stay away from it until this gets cleared up. For now you can access ROG products from the asus website. http://www.asus.com/ca-en/ROG_ROG/Notebooks_Products/

The security of the site has been comprised quite a few times, asus needs to get their ass in gear sort it out because this keeps happening, honestly the quality of asus has gone to complete shit over the last few years, their failure rate is increasing, their customer service is lacking and now they cant control their site or try to do anything about it.

 

Asus has only been ahead these few years because they are very good marketers, that reputation is likely to be soiled if they keep this act up.

This happens every now and then.  Basically Asus are lazy, and need to update their security and make sure everything else is up to date.

But the Browser is fine for me. I used to use chrome, but I like this much more.

i use opera at work when i am at a station that i need to sign in to temporarily.

I dont like the UI of it, it is too chunky. And the ad ons they shove down your throat with no way to remove them are annoying.

Are you sure? With Opera 23.0 it does not come with any add-ons/extensions. 

And you can remove any add-on.

chrome works "out of the box". I dont want to have to disable things, or click them away. That is like having pre installed bloatware on your custom built gaming machine, it would anger me to no end.

I have an ASUS AOI that i got for free, and after i restored it and saw the 30 bloatware icons on the desktop, i busted revo out and got rid of it all. It's the same thing with opera. I don't want it and if i payed money for it i would be very angry.

It literally takes less time. And they are links to Facebook, Ebay, and Yahoo. I consider Anti-Virus trials bloatware, not links.

Chrome sync takes no time at all, and with an SSD you literally do not notice any slow down due to syncing.

With opera, not only is it a chunky, ugly looking bloatware filled piece of software, it is almost bloatware in its own. The day they start packing Opera in with AOIs and pre builts is the day it becomes actual bloatware.

Chrome sync takes me a grand total of 2 seconds, with my fast connection. I can play any flash game, (youtube videos crash for the first time playing them if i go above 1440P but after that they play fine. That is adobes fault.)

I have ample RAM to use chrome at my current level of tab monster, and chrome just works.

I can't say i have ever really had an amazing experience with opera. I used it for 3 weeks when chrome was in its days of 'oh you wanted to upload to youtube? Lel.' and i wanted so bad to get off it.

The plugin and add-on store has thousands of items. I watch YouTube in 4K with opera. Did you even use Opera 20+? That souds like Opera 10 or so. I don't use flash games but the unity web plugin works just fine. Try the newer Opera, its a lightweight chrome clone.

Either way, if you're happy with it that's fine.
