Hey guys

I want to build my own watercooled system, but, I want to know what size of rads I should get. So I hope you guys can help me out a bit here. So if I have a 360 rad and a 280 rad, with the same thickness, and same FPI. Which one would perform the best, and which one would be the most quiet? Essentially I want to know how big the difference is between them.

My setup: i5 3570K  - Corsair H100i - MSI Z77 GD65 - 256 GB Samsung 840 pro SSD - Corsair AX760i - Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce 2GB - 4x4 GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer RAM - Corsair Carbide 500R (modded side window)

With some good fans both of them will be quiet but a 360 will perform around 15% better

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

360 has more surface area than 280

so use 360 rads wherever possible

the quiet part depends on the fans

140mm fans tend to be quieter than 120mm fans, but have less static pressure

plus you can find silent 120mm fans too, if you're ready to spend $20+ per fan

If the two radiators have the same thickness and FPI the 360 will perform better. The 280 will be quieter. And you should get the largest radiator(s) that'll fit in your system.

Not necessarily. The 360mm will perform better that's a fact. But for the noise levels you can turn down the fans on the 360 rad a little while it still having perform better. So 360 is a cler win.

What if the fans aren't PWM, and you don't have a fan controller? :o
