Need something casual, fun and controller-friendly

Hey Guys,

I need something easy to learn and causal to play on my htpc. My friends, who aren't necessarily into gaming, always ask me, to play something on the TV. But... If I start something "serious", they are overwhelmed. So I'm looking for something a little more casual.

Thank you for your input :)

Last game that I played with a controller was Fez. It's a very nice casual kind of exploration puzzle platformer. It does get more extreme with the puzzles at the end but it will take a lot of time to get to that point.

I would also recommend more hardcore platformers like Super Meat Boy. It's good to take turns to see how badly everyone does and the game looks good and has nice music. Also a little dark humor at the end of every world.

Some fighting games could always be fun. If everyone are casual then there is no problem with someone kicking everyones ass.

Semi arcade racing games could be fun if your friends are into cars. We just try to beat each others lap times by taking turns racing. But this might be boring if you have lots of friends over. And I don't know any good racing game on PC that has more then 2 player split screen.

And if you guys are more into table top games then something like Civ V or Heroes of Might & Magic(I recommend 3 with HD mod, 5 or 6) are surprisingly good hot seat multiplayer games.

Speedrunners and Spelunky is pretty fun, or you could just filter steam games with Casual and something like Controller friendly.

I don't think you know what casual means... Anyway, the only splitcreen games I can think of are Boderlands 2, Portal 2, and Left 4 Dead 2.

Well... My english isn't perfect, I know. But casual means something like "laid back", "relaxed" to me, so please correct me, if i'm wrong.

Back to topic: It doesn't need to be multiplayer or splitscreen, but Portal 2 is a nice idea. I like playing Arma 3 but it's not what I imagined. Especially for someone who just want 10 to 20min instant-action :)

I will check out the rest - Thanks for all the ideas.

Casual as an English word and Casual in the gaming space are different. Which probably causes a lot more confusion for someone learning the English language. In gaming Casual just means a gamer who is in it for the fun so basically almost all games are "casual" except for ultra-hard games like Dark Souls or Super Meat Boy. I definitely do not recommend Arma 3 if you want a laid back experience the game is far too serious and simulator-esque to be laid back.
