So im thinking of buying a macbook air and since i dont really know much about computer parts i was wondering if i should choose the i5 or i7 processor.

I do alot of web surfing and like to watch streams and do regular multitasking and also play the occasional game such as minecraft or counter strike go.

So what would you recommend?

I'd recommend not getting a macbook air and getting a windows notebook instead.

But to your question I would suggest the i5, i7s are mainly just going to benefit those who do lots of video editing and rendering, but for what you plan to do the i5 will be perfect.

i7

because the processors apple uses are low end POS so you should buy all the power you can afford.

if you cant afford it, dont buy it.

There is no reason for him to get an i7, what he plans to do will not benefit from hyperthreading.

Take a look at the Lenovo Y50 or Y40, they are both great windows notebooks around $1000 each.

It's a dual core i7

with hyperthreading he will have 2 extra threads, which will benefit if he is multitasking 4 programs at once.

If he is gaming, watching streams, and browsing the web he will definitely need 4 threads.

When it comes to laptops (or mobile hardware in general) always get the best for your money, I would aim for the i7 it will cope better in general.

I would look at a decent windows pc myself if you are not using the MAC because of its exclusive programs.

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb
