Hey all.

So I'm planing on Upgrading soon and thought it was best to ask some pros on what they think of the products I intend to buy. A second opinion never hurt( and a smarter opinion)

I plan on playing Games, games and games. I love my games :)

I have 2 monitors. One at 24 inch and the other at 23 inch. Both are 1920x1080.

My current build is this:

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k

GPU: EVGA GTX 690

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3

Memory: 16BG G.SKILL Value Series

SSD: 256BG Samsung 840 PRO Series

HDD: 2TB Western Digital

Some would say that the GTX 690 it's worth it, but I saved for sometime to get the best and I'm happy with it.

Now I plan on upgrading the CPU, Motherboard and Memory to

CPU: i7-4790k

RAM: just increasing to 32GB

Motherboard: Asus Z97-A

I'm also planing on picking up the Corsair Obsidian 750D case to house all of this.

I'm just wondering if it's worth waiting for DDR4 and then get a new CPU and motherboard or if not wait, should I get better RAM over just getting more??

Are these parts good? will they bottleneck my GPU??

Cheers Guys!

No need to get more RAM unless you do a lot of video editing and things like that and the 4790k isn''t a huge upgrade over the 3770k. I wouldn't really consider it worth it unless you can sell your current CPU/motherboard for a decent amount.

wait for better parts

the jump from 3770k to 4790k is hardly noticeable

I would wait until skylake for a noticeable jump in performance.

Skylake?

Skylake comes after broadwell, first implementation of DDR4 for us normal farts that do not have $4000 to spend. X99 in broadwell will bring DDR4 but it will still be pretty damn expensive then.

How much do they think DDR4 will cost?

I think it's like 500-600$ for a 16gb kit, I remember Linus mentioning it on a WAN show.

Also, as mentioned before, you will not notice a big difference between the 3770K and the 4790K.

Hey Combo52x,

for a really perfect gaming experience you'd also need to choose an appropriate HDD. What WD hard drive have you chosen? I'd suggest checking out the WD Black drive - up to 4 TB capacity, 7200 RPM, designed for maximum computer performance for gaming and demanding applications. You can find more information in the official WD site under Internal storage/Desktop.

Cheers and best of luck! :)

If you think I helped, like!  :P
