That's an obvious translation issue. Kind of racist to call them out for it.

It would have nothing to do with what race they are but instead that they suck at translating....

Also, I completely agree that a large company could take 2 seconds to make sure that products they are shipping out don't have some garbage with them. I could understand it if it was just like Bob's shit motherboards but this is Asus, a massive company.

racist no, not at all.  The thing is, they probably used spell check, they just used bad grammar.  But it is kinda funny.  I doubt that specific error message was high on the priority list.   What kind off card do you have anyway?  Is it a mainstream card? Quattro?

The quality of the translator is irrelevant because certain things simply do not translate from one language to another. Your comment is still extremely racist because you are complaining about someone else's language barrier.

I could dig your jive if you were talking some random person.  You are talking about a large company doing business internationally.  Get off your naive racist BS.  Expecting a CORPORATION that does business in a country to dot their F''in i's and cross their F''in T's is not racist.

Asus is awesome, and you can't call them out for something as petty as that, especially when most people (the filthy casuals) don't even know what a BIOS is, let alone update it.

You're forgetting that most of these computer component manufacturers are very much not from the US. You're going to have to expect at least a few translation errors. My H20 BIOS has some typos and errors in it, which is fine. As long as it keeps my power consumption to a minimum and makes the laptop wake when I press the keyboard, as far as I'm concerned it's perfect.

Having low expectations usually ends up in low results.

Its not out of hand to expect a company that does a large percentage of their business in english speaking countries to put some effort into getting their language correct in their literature and website.

Sorry, but by that logic, I could screw up MSi, Gigabyte and Asus' new lines of X99 motherboards just by convincing myself that they will be bad, even though everyone else knows that they are going to tear the throats out of everything else.

Also, I am not sure you realize just how difficult a language English is to learn for people, especially in Asia where the languages have no historical, grammatical or structural ties whatsoever. Is it really that big of a deal that there is one, maybe two typos or grammatical errors? They make kickass products, so what's the problem? At least they get the spelling down, about a third of America can't even manage that, let alone grammar.

The first paragraph literally makes zero logical sense.

I bet it is much easier to hire someone that can translate their literature to english properly than it is to make a high end motherboard function with typical Asus reliability and performance.  That is what you are missing here.  This is a business.  They are not going to pick some random employee and say 'YOU,  learn perfect english NOW".  They are going to hire someone.

Not really, you have taiwanese engineers designing this stuff in Mandarin, not English.

Why are we making such a big deal out of one error? Should we have the entire language department of Asus fired? is our margin for error that narrow?

I am making more a big deal at people like the one guy complaing that it is racist to expect proper translations and you who seem to think a giant corporation cannot afford to hire someone for 50k a year in the US/UK to read over their literature to make final corrections on it.  You cannot give them the same slack you give some random chinese guy trying to communicate in broken english.  It is not the same thing.  Is it some big travesty?  Of course not.  It is also something I expect a big corporation to have on lock down.

Isn't it something to do with them being Taiwanese, I assume the translation is often shabby.

Don't quote me on that.

Too bad, I'm quoting you.
