Thenewboston has a c# tutorial series with 200 videos in it so that might be worth a look.

My rig: i5 2500k, MSI Z77A G45, Gainward GTX 980 Phantom, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, OCZ ZT series 750W PSU, 1TB HDD, 800D, fully water cooled. I am currently working on modding my HAF 912+ to fit a custom loop, here is the build log: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/165963-project-viridis-water-cooled-haf-912/

Wait, what? Why?

C# is amazing..

Why not just use Java when there are far more implementations of it and it's as cross-platform as it gets?

I don't know, it just seems like Java is a more employable skill if you like runtime-compiled stuff.

You seem mistaken about c#.

You seem mistaken about c#.

In what way? What are the advantages over Java? It's more locked-in to the Windows ecosystem and Java is far more popular.

More popular surely means less employable... because every man and his dog can code in Java so you've got more competition in the job market. Something more specific is more highly sought after by those who need it.

I know there's a LOT of companies (particularly financial businesses) which use C# and .NET for everything.

Plus, it can never hurt to introduce yourself to the different concepts and ideas that a new language almost inevitably brings.

No, I absolutely encourage it.

However in terms of pure practicality I think Java has C# beat.

Depends what you want to do. Best tool for the job and all that.

Sure. If you're just a .NET guy then yes.

Pluralsight has an absolute wealth of courses focusing on C#. They range from just beginning to learn it all the way up to the most advanced C# language features. Far too many to list out, I'd just encourage you to go there and have a look through them. They also have some great TDD courses presented using C#.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

Too much to say which is why I didn't mention any before but if you want to know.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_C_Sharp_and_Java . Java does have its benefits but c# imo.

P.S. Where I live .NET developers are more sought after.

But you of all people should realize that the fact that the differences between the two can be and are enumerated on a Wikipedia page means that there aren't very many overall differences.

I'm not saying they're the same language, I'm saying they use the same paradigm, very similar implementations, and as a result they are also structurally similar.

.NET developers may be more sought after, but Java is the most popular language by a wide margin right now. That's what I mean by employability.
