MaartenDekkers

I have this fan hub

And all fans are running at full speed. I don't like that at all so could someone tell me how to make this 5v?

Cut the yellow, but wait for someone else to confirm this before actually doing it.

Yeah I could solder it again.

OK do it then, I see lots of 5v molex to fan adapters with only 2 pins (the 5V ones) so I am assuming that is how you do it.

I was going to suggest that but I've had some connectors where cable/solder broke before the pin would come out, and others that the pin would not stay in place after you tried to put it back.

I really really dislike molex connectors, I think they are flimsy and all the pins move about inside.

Swap the yellow with the red, maybe the fan hub only is wired to the 12v side. as @DEcobra11 says.

It is. When I look at the back I see a little embossing from those 2. I will try to swap them.

what fans are you using ? since we all say yeah i ran my fans at 12 volt or 5 volt but some fans require at least 7 volt if it is lower they will not spin check your manufacture of the fans.

If you push the "wings" on the sides of the pins in they should pretty much fall out then you just need to make sure you bend them back out so they clip properly before reinserting.

I agree that molexs are kinda horrible though :)
