144Hz actually worth it?

Guest

Because my friend has one now, a 144hz monitor and while I only saw it in action on the desktop (lol, yes the mousecursor was smoother) I wonder how it will do in games like League of Legends?

I play LoL yes, and sometimes WoW and sometimes other games.

I wonder though, would I REALLY notice the difference or is it simply not worth it for League?

Because I am wondering if I should get such a monitor myself.

I would recommend it in fast action games like FPS's in League it would feel smoother sure but there would be no advantage.

Oh yeah and I play it for fun, not even competitive. So not sure if it is worth blowing 280 euro on.

for fun get a nice ips panel if you need a monitor. maybe even 1440p or 4k.

I'm playing CSGO and the difference is huge. I have a 144hz Benq and now whenever I play on my brother's 60hz, I feel some serious lag. When I got my 144hz, people were instantly saying that I am preshooting corners but actually I see the enemy jumping out before he sees me. Thats a big advantage even for a not-so competetive gamer like me.

On day-to-day applications I don't notice the difference either, but in games it's light years ahead.

Most of the 144hz monitor also have 1 ms of response time. Low response time means less ghosting which may benefit in League while scrolling thru the map or while in a fight.

Depends on the games but if you mainly play games like league or WoW or similar slower paced games then a nice IPS panel monitor will do. Something from the ACER H6 series is cheap and nice. But if you plan on playing games like CS:GO or Tribes ascend you will notice the difference maybe not right away but you'll feel it when you go back down to 60hz.  One of those things where you might not notice it, but your brain does.
