cooperred

Looking to get a new 2.1 system since I'm using old dinosaur speakers from the last century I think...

Edit: The Logitechs are $30 cheaper atm

The ProMedia costs more and sounds slightly better, however I don't feel it's worth the extra cost. Both are amazing systems, and you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in sound quality unless you did an in-person comparison between the two. The Logitechs put out a lot more SPL when cranked up though, and will easily shake the walls of the room, whereas the Promedia is more tight. Better for music, but less fun for action movies and games (or rap music)

Klipsch are specialists in the audio business. Logitech make great peripherals.

No contest here.

The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 sounds so much better then the Z623.

Hands down I would get the ProMedia 2.1 over the Z623.

Even with the extra cost? Are they that much better?

So the Logitechs are more boomy and better for movies/games? How noticeable would the difference be if you had to rate each from 1-10?

The Klipsch promedia 2.1 has a tight detailed bass response. The Logitech speakers sound muddy in comparison. The trebles and frequencies are much better on the Klipsch's. You'll find plenty of positive reviews regarding the quality of the promedia 2.1 speakers. In fact, I bought my promedia 2.1 speakers about eight years ago and they still sound beautiful.

In terms of overall sound quality, I'd give the klipsch's a 9/10 and the logitech's a 4/10.

The simple answer is Yes. I would go into it further but @eLucid pretty much summed it up. I own both systems, and by far, I would not chose the Z623 over the ProMedia 2.1's.

Wow that's a pretty big difference... I've heard some stuff about Klipsch's quality with many peoples' sets dying after a few weeks or months. You've had yours for 8 years so I assume build quality is great? Thanks for all the help!

Alright thanks!

Boomy bass is supposed to be a bad thing...

I think he meant boomy as in explosions? whereas the Klipsch's are tight and punchy?

The Logitechs are more boomy as in you feel the bass from explosions, gunshots, those deep-frequency fades that they always use in action movies for some reason, etc. It's a lot more like a movie theater where the bass just shakes you and everything around you. The ProMedia is a lot tighter sounding, the bass sounds very good and high quality, but it doesn't have the SPL factor of the Logitech, making them better for music listening  or non-action games and movies.

I've tried both and if the Logitechs were a 10 in how good they sound to me, the ProMedia would be around a 6-7. However this is because I'm a person who plays mainly shooter games and watches action movies, and has two 10" subwoofers in the back of their car.

Highjacking thread 10/10 100/100 gj mate

The only "headphones" that I've owned that I found excellent are my current Audio Technica ATH-M50's, which are quite highly regarded headphones on this forum as well as others. I got mine for $150 at Best Buy and I'd easily take them over my previous Beats Studios, which cost twice as much.

But again, make your own thread here in the Audio section and you'll get a lot more response from the community :)

People who recommend M50's on this subforum get attacked on a regular basis.

I don't think they're the worst things in the world, but there's usually a few better options.
