r9 290 with HD 5450 as adpter

my 290 dosent have a vga for my scond screen so im using my old 5450 for it in my secon slot . will this decrease my fps in games

also i have 8gb of ram but its like 653mhz is tha bottlenecking my pc?

if you are running a second screen off your HD5450

 

and the 290 on your main

 

nothing wrong

 

is your RAM DDR2 or DDR3?

Thats nice but your 270X is a rebranded 7870, they removed all analog outputs from the 290(x)

it's all digital, displayport, hdmi, 2 dvi

the adapter which you linked only works with DVI-I

 

there is a cross pin on the adapter which prevents you from using it on the 290

653x2 1306 or 1333. The speed you see is mega transfers not clock speed. Megatransfers is 2x clock on ddr3 (double data rate 3)

 

I used 2 gpu's like this before. Works perfect. You can run game on any monitor.

ah ok that is 1333MHz sticks then

 

but yea

 

as mentioned

 

you can use the low end gpu to power your smaller monitor

 

and you still can game on your main gpu
