Looking on newegg and saw these two cards for about the same price (within $10) and was wondering which is better performing and most overclockable. Currently i have a 660 and, for me, it runs a bit slow.

R9 280x

760

Also if there are any better cards for under $300 that would be great too.

The 280X for sure, the 760 would hardly even be an upgrade to what you have now. Heck I would consider going to an R9 290 to actually get a decent upgrade.

$400 for the R9 290. So damn worth it if you can make that stretch.

This one isn't even close, the 280x is the much more powerful card. Its pretty much equal with the 770 but has an extra gig of vram and is cheaper. Someone just linked to an r9 290 for 399, which is a hundred more than the 280x but gives a pretty good jump in performance.
