For $1,200,000 I would hope that you get a bit more than a tarted up Elise using an engine that still uses pushrods. :P

 

290mph top speed is nothing, do it in a mile. :o

nothing wrong with pushrod motors. You will be hard pressed to find a motor with a higher power density than a pushrod v8

Nothing wrong at all, I just want a bit more for my money in a million dollar hypercar. Maybe when Koenigsegg starts using the Cargine valves, I'll consider buying one. ;)

Ahem... can you please remove hypercar from the tags. It's a supercar at most. Hypercars are extremely advanced engeneering miracles. This is just putting a big and powerful enging in a very good designed body. For me the only hypercars right now are Porsche 918 and McLaren P1. LaFerarri is debatable tho. The technologies used in that cars are just mind blowing.

 

Anyway i LOVE how it looks and the top speed is an awesome addition. Don't know why you'd want to go that fast but yeah aweosme i guess.

Okay I will but what about the Koenigsegg One:1 ?

I have never really gotten all that thrilled about Hennessey cars. They are wild and over the top, but to me they are just missing something.

Refinement is probably the word you are looking for.

hennessey make cars like id make cars and NRE makes engines like i'd make engines....stupidly overpowered with the intention of killing yourself.

I love it! though you could certainly get more than 1400hp, thats probably limited by cooling and emissions, plenty of cars on drag week have 2500+hp but i guess 1400 is impressive to people who like supras and GTR's.

imagine what it would be like with a real engine like 50% more cylinders and 3x the valves..

MTBF is lower sure to providing correct care and servicing is there theres no reason you cant have a high miler super powerful care, the veyrons 1000hp engine is designed to last something like 40years by which time its going to be "cool for its tome but not very impressive now" but like ferrari 355's etc.

as i said by having a bigger more efficient engine theres no reason why they couldnt get a little more power without sacrificing longevity.

RR merlin engines etc still run so a 10L v12 running 18psi of boost (same as the veyron) would probably last 20+ years still and make maybe 1700hp

more boost less longevity 2000hp? maybe only possible with a limited duration button though the reason behind that would defy me, you can only shred the tires for 10 seconds? boo hoo lol

There's other factors though. On a drag car theres high compression heads, valve timing, different materials, etc

you mean on every car...most sports bikes run 11+:1 compression and have some form of vtec.
