Hi guys!

Going to be picking out a motherboard soon and want to know which one is the best from these 3. The MSI and Gigabyte are under $120 USD and the Maximus is $200 USD. Is the Maximus worth the extra $80?

MSI Z97-Gaming 5

GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 - $119 USD

ASUS Maximus Vii Hero - $200

The Maximus VII Hero probably isn't the most practical feature wise. Though I would still recommend it, only because I'm an ASUS ROG fanboy.

My father once told me "always go for the second cheapest wine on the menu"

so I've been applying that philosophy to all of my PC components including my motherboard. so for that list I would recommend the Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 7

INTEL CORE I5 4670K | NVIDIA GTX 980 | NOCTUA NH-L9i | GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI | KINGSTON 120GB V300

CM STORM QUICKFIRE TK | BENQ XL2420TE | ROCCAT SAVU | FRACTAL DEFINE R4

A $50 board will give the same FPS in games. The difference is features. Spending $200 on a motherboard doesn't make sense as you get little for your money.

I'd say the Gigabyte.
