I don't know what to call this post

orangecat

Yeah I just saw the article that Volbet posted on page one. I'm beginning to doubt my memory now. It might've been something like repopulating a deserted island. Repopulating far fewer than seven billion people would obviously mean you'd need to start with far fewer people.

Maybe there was a way humans could repopulate long ago with less of a gene pool than we have now but it seems like we have lost the need for such a feature lol.

It could work if they relocate to a different environment every 2 generations (assuming that 1 generation produces 4 offspring with at least one male) while leaving behind part of the community...

adaptation occurs and bam! new gene pool...

Wouldn't the new gene pool take thousands if not millions of years to develop? Surely 2 people couldn't save the human race.

The genetic structure of humans haven't changed since our ancestores first arrived around 200.000 years ago. Human had, and still has 46 chromosomes in 23 pairs (excluding certain genetic mutations). We are all varities of the same genetic structure.

Adaptation occours way to slowly for it to counter the effect of inbreeding.

Adaptation also doesn't insert new genetic material. II only favours material that is already present.

Take into factor the exponential population growth and the spread that would occur if all the 'communities' would follow the same pattern of reproduce, migrate, leave people, migrate, reproduce...

Also, I'm assuming that the 2 initial people have the skills to survive....

It'll take a really long time, but the 2 people technically populated the earth...

Well it's just something that I pulled out of my ass (and some biology lessons)...

The plan is to spread out and cover as many environments as possible...

I'd like to see some proof that "2 people technically populated the earth" Considering that that's impossible on every single level.

Like I said in a previous post... This is something I pulled out of my ass and should not be taken seriously...

P.S.

I was raised a Christian but I am not stupid enough to not look at things from different perspectives, so let's not turn this into a debate of religion...

I knew a guy that kept on asking that question... his name was Josef Fritzl.

Never seem him around these days... Probably off thinking up some other wacky science experiments... Oh Fritzl!

Ok @Trik'Stari I'm going to have to stop you there. All this thread you trying to "prove religion is false" by claiming 2 humans can't repopulate the world. Aside from the fact that the OP said no religion and you were the first one to brought it up.(rude)

And aside from the fact that trying "prove" religion is false is one the stupidest thing a man can do, let me remind you this one piece of factoid.

Abrahamic religions all believe in an a God that is omnipotent. Omnipotent = Infinite Power! There is no such thing as impossible for an omnipotent being. That is why religions all come down to faith in the end. You can't prove it. You either believe it or don't. But for the love of all fuck, do not argue about it on the Internet. Because it is just dumb...

You thinking isn't wrong, since it is pretty much how genetic diversity in humans came to be in the first place.

The problem is that time, and the number of individuals, is against us. It simply isn't doable with only two people starting the gene pool.

If they found a way to mutate the offsprings dna in such a way that there were be no health problems from it but the dna would be different enough that the offspring wouldn't even really be related anymore then it should work

So i was just thinking if everyone in the world died except 1 woman and 1 man how could they possibly repopulate the world? Wouldn't that mean there would be tons of inbreeding? Wouldn't that cause tons of birth defects? I remember seeing this scenario in a few movies or something and I thought no way in hell they could "save" humanity.

i don't really know where I'm going with this thats why its in off topic but idk just post down below with what you think or whatever idc im just super bored right now.

Please keep religious talk out of this thats not what we are here to talk about.. thanks.

When I made my posts earlier I saw nothing about no religion. Furthermore someone else said "technically 2 people did populate the earth" and that's physically impossible so I pointed it out. I did not say "all religion is false" just that 2 people could not have populated the earth.

Well, since we evolved from apes (there's no proof, but all evidence points to that theory), there was never just 1 man and 1 woman.

And I believe before that, (300-400ish million years ago I think) which was a few evolutions before apes, there was sea creatures.

So I think somewhere around there, inbreeding didn't matter.

That's just what I think.

So going by my theory, if there were 2 humans left, there will be a lot of mutilation, and possibly an evolution (if they survive) to a completely different being.
