plasti dip my HDD's

Go to solution Solved by das affe,

there is a hole in the metal-top. you need to keep that hole free of plasti-dip. other than that i don't know why not.

Probably, get an external hdd case and paint that maybe?

I wouldn't do it.

current temps are around 30-35C and i got fans on them, so temps wont be a issue, and its just metal casing, and they are seated in the hot swap spots so a case isnt a option

Put the HDD in the back chamber of the case? Or it's not possible?

i have a Air 540 (best case ever) and visible HDD's, the temp are really low, but i thought i should ask, anyone think there will be any issues if i paint the metal top part of my Hdd's black using plasti dip?

Plasti-Dip is liquid electrical tape. It should be 100% fine as long as you don't put any on that little hole.

Sure. As other said, don't cover air or vent holes.

Also, if you remove the label it will look better - but - bye bye warranty.

cover the little hole and all contacts with a sticker or tape. I don't see why this wouldn't work if your temps are normally fine

You will have no problems painting it. Temps will not increase. As long as you put a little piece of tape over the small hole so paint doesnt get in you will be fine, Just don't forget to remove that piece of tape afterwards :)

When painting, cover anything you don't want to get paint on with masking tape (such as the PCB and connectors)

everyone talk about this hole.. while i will mask off the connectors and will only spray from above so the pcp wont see any paint,  there is no hole on top of these :/
