XBOX vs PS4

yea, and considering we don't even know gpu specs of either console. Or what the ps4 looks like, it could weigh 100lbs and be the size of a bathtub

 

After the Xbox One was revealed, there was an image of someone putting a pen in front of the xbox. The pen was half the length of the Xbox meaning it is not very long at all. It is also not very tall. This is to do with the fact that they want it to be more a part of your living room entertainment system and so it has quite a small form factor.

still too early to tell. E3 is around the corner and we will finally know more about BOTH consoles before we can make a decision. You can beat a dead horse all you want about Microsoft building a "TV" box, but they are marketing to more than just gamers and from a business aspect its brilliant.

i heard somewhere that the ps4 gave more of the ram to the devs than the xbox because of the xbox's operating system needs more dedicated memory

though i may be wrong on that i cant seem to refind the article or video

That's true. The PlayStation 4 allows developers to access 7GB of the total RAM, with 1GB dedicated for the OS. The Xbox One allows developers to access 5GB of the RAM with 3GB dedicated to the OS.

I'm not buying either but I'd lean towards the PS4 because they aren't bundling a telescreen Kinect with every console.

PS4 looks like it is going to be cool (not as cool as my pc obviously) but xbox wth built in kinect that is always on is creepy also if xbox cannot connect to the server it needs to connect to what will it do .

PS4 for exclusives and being an actual game console. I ditched TV a long time ago for just netflix and internet so I have zero interest in a lot of the new features of the Xbone. Always having Kinect on and listening/watching your every move is a deal breaker for me. Not to mention Microsoft will not give straight answers to the always online question and if you can actually turn off the system fully or not. Seems like they are trying to hide something when they cannot answer simple questions.

PS4 exclusives have always interested me more than xbox ones.  They actually have exclusives that aren't shooters!  Shooters I need a mouse/kb anyway.

If i had to choose between the two i'd go for PS4, but as of right now i'd rather get myself a new desktop PC, i don't have a huge urge to go buy the new consoles whatsoever. I might consider buying the PS4 when they've gone down in prices...significantly, i don't have any intentions for the Xbox simply because of that "always online" crap and that the kinect 2 is required for it to work.

Neither, If you truly wanted to game you woudnt care about consoles except for the exclusive games, and no console is worth getting just for 2-3 exclusives.

bear in mind the ps4 will be around £500-£600 and the xbox will be £400-£500 which is affordable for the xbox fanboys and will then have a price drop once all the pre-orders have got thier machines, my bet is they will fly out and the ps4 fanboys will rant how thier console is more premium and you have to pay for quality (yet somehow online service's should be free?) just like they did with the ps3, just like with every new iphone (just because its made of die-cast)-people have to justify the cost somehow.

As for specs, yeah the ps4 has gddr5 but it also has higher latency as linus pointed out, we shall see if this matters at all.

the whole 8-core thing is being oversold and is probably equal to a core 2 quad/i3 sort of level of performance, which will amaze the console gamers-ignorance is bliss..

at the moment the xbox is getting lots of grief and bull made up by paystation fanboys like;

"the kinect is always watching you"-so point at a wall and stop smoking that stuff.

"1 in 2 webcams can be hacked"- by hacked you mean made to run things like the virtuix omni, yes it can...

"microsoft has filled a patent to let them spy on you to promote the adds and help the government"-i highly doubt its that well made that it can reckognise anyone in the world that just happens to enter the room and cookies store information about you for the purpose of adds, how many people do you know who are OCD about clearing cookies?

"they will restrict access if somone in th room hasnt paid"-see #1

"you must be connected to the internet all the time"-yeah if you want to play on xbox live, in which case how are you doing that without the internet? and isnt wi-fi meant to be everywhere by now? if it isnt then thats our fault for not working on it enough, it should be everywhere..

id probably buy a ps4 (second hand) when they re-release spyro, crash bandicoot etc, you know, the games that were fun to play and made their consoles popular in the first place before the internet..

id probably get an xbox one (second hand) for when i want some fun away from the pc, i dont watch much tv but maybe this will get me back into it (its nice to be shown tv shows once in a while rather than have to make an effort and find things on youtube to watch)

so wheres that independant factual report then??? all i saw was a page with someone saying that someone else said the ps4 is 50% faster (like someone got the xbox numbers and put them into a calculator knowing you cant do an actual test to see).

We dont know who these people are and they probably don't know what they're talking about anyhow, run cinebench on them then we'll see....oh wait, we cant so its all worthless bla bla blaa.

Despite their theoretical hardware differences I reckon the end results is going to be so similar. Your hardly going to notice a difference (even more so when you don't have them side by side), especially considering how they're just going to port from one console to the other (or from PC to console) due to the similar architecture.

That's amazing. I mean, I have never really cared much for "console wars", cause I never really had an interest at all in consoles (PC Gaming FTW), but this whole PS4 vs XBOX thing has been very interesting. I honestly thought that it would have been a closer battle between the two and people would just go with whichever console they personally like the most, but it seems like even XBOX fans are switching to Play Station now.

glad titanfall is on pc cause if it was only for xbox one that would suck.   i only owned PSX before the redesign PS1. so PS4 will be my 2nd PS system. though most gaming will be done on pc. but PS only games look really good and PS is now as at low-mid level pc now so game play will be great.

so i was right with it costing £400-500, i guarentee thats going to fall like a stone now (yay!), microsofts already rinsing money from google what do they care about how much money they make on the one so long as they dont have the RROD thing again which cost them billions.

its like 360 vs ps3 all over again but the roles reversed, the ps3 was more expensive so everyone bought 360's, only when they died did people switch to ps3 (and everyone had the wii because it was that cheap it didnt matter how rubbish it is), had a ps3 for about a month, never played it (other than gt5....because its gt5), it felt nice having it but somehow it was too much to ask for music to be played in games at the same time (cus thats impossible right?) im not gonna point out the flaws, every console has them.

edit; i had a megadrive, then a ps1 (gt1+2), then another, then a ps2 (gt3+4), then an xbox(forza 1+2 which kicked the ps2 down the stairs and stole its lunch money!), then another ps2 and another xbox which i later gave to the missus, then a 360 (forza 3+4) which ive enjoyed for 7 years and a ps3 (gt5) which as hardware was nice, as an experiance left me cold and bored...

no doubt ill end up with both of them at some point in the future, but ill mainly be spending my money where its deserved, on the pc.

on things for sure, im not craving a nintendo any time soon.
