so i got a virus on my mac book air 2010 edition and need help getting it off. i got the virus from a torrent i was trying to download, the file was named the same as the file i was trying to download but when i clicked on it, it installed mplayer x, ever since then I've had horrible pop-up ads and random ads appearing on webpages that shouldn't be there.

please help

Download an anti-malware/spyware scanner. You can also buy them but some there free anti-virus software which do the job nearly on par, run it and delete those nasty buggers.

Next time if something looks suspicious don't click on it ever! If you don't have a clue don't open it and delete it.

I believe you can get avast for mac to. might be worth downloading the free version to stick on there and running a full scan too.

I would download AVG. Avg is Free virus protection software that lets you scan your pc or mac to check for virus and clean up things you don't need.
