Are there any problems with this build?

Danxman354

Hi everyone,

I am trying to build my first gaming PC (very high end) and I have come up with these components but as it is my first build I am unsure if any of the parts are not compatible or if there are better options etc. Any recommendations or help is extremely appreciated and will be taken on board. Thanks in advance for all the help :D The build is below.

(I also was going for bitfenix spectre pro LED fans but am unsure of what aftermarket heat sync to go for)

No CPU cooler.
With that high-end-ness, I'd suggest the H100i for a sleek look.
Also, I'd suggest getting some aftermarket fans since the budget is high, as you said you will with the Spectre's.
May I ask what it will be being used for? You may not need such a high end CPU.

edit: Also, consider using PCPartPicker for convenience.

I really wish that we'd just make organic hardware already, that grows and adapts to the demands it needs to meet. That way, grannies' computers can be floppy sacks of organicness and the 12 year old Minecrafters will look like the guys that only do bicep curls, and the nerdy programmers will finally have justice, with their body-builder rigs that skipped leg day.

you can take a cheaper and lower power PSU, and a better one in general, also WHY that cpu?! you are saying gaming so you do NOT need that cpu at all so get a LGA 1050 board and a i74790k. also unless you use 50+ tabs while browsing 16gb is enough(16gb is enough for 50..)

no reason to get a "extreme" ssd, a normal one is better (price to performance)

all this while loosing no performance, and instead with ALL(some of) that money saved you can get a second 780ti which WILL increase the performance with around 75%

@Danxman354

As said above you've obviously picked some of the most high end components, what do you need them for?

32GB of ram

4930K

480GB SSD

1000 watt power supply

why did you pick an old caviar black instead of the newer ones which cost a third of the price?

Went and got food, come back, he hasn't responded lol. I also put together this, keeping to the black-gold theme it seems he was trying to do (a bit, just the MoBo really). I also know that picking a case is a tough part; So I didn't change it. Also kept 16gigs of RAM and a 256gig SSD because I know that paired with a 780ti, those are nicely complementary.

Also saving $1000 going with this build :P

Could squeeze in another 780ti and bump up to a 512gig SSD, AND get aftermarket fans, within the original price...

I think the kid just went on newegg and started clicking some of the most expensive gaming parts he could find...

I think that may be the case as well.

Still, almost all of us went through that phase. I still have a wishlist I made on Newegg over three years ago that's pretty crappily-balanced :P

I don't think so, the parts he chose weren't extremely stupid.

It's not like he chose a 4960X or a Titan Z/Dual Titan Blacks or any of the other tell-tale troll posts. I think he chose a reasonable configuration, 4930K, 780 Ti...etc. If he could chop and clean a bit he'd probably get it down to around $2500 and I think a lot of people on these forums around here will have a $2500+ PC, I certainly do :)

Wow thanks for all the replies guys :D

I made a lot of mistakes in the first build I see now :/

I have made a new one slightly different:

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=19353494

Just read all the replies and I am VERY thankful I put this on here. I didn't realise HOW much I was overspending...

Your all right that this build is not the greatest but I am a novice and thats why I posted it on the forum :)

I quite like the look of this build AND the price. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4T3KK8

again I had no idea just how much I was overspending and this build is great. I think I will do what you said "Could squeeze in another 780ti and bump up to a 512gig SSD, AND get aftermarket fans, within the original price..."

What aftermarket fans and 512 SSD would you reccomend?

"May I ask what it will be being used for? You may not need such a high end CPU."

I will be using my new build for quite a lot of heavy gaming on 2 x  (2560 x 1440) monitors. As well as web browsing, movie downloading and uploading, youtube (Upload/download).

Also just another thing I forgot to mention was that this build needs to last me quite a while maybe up to 5 years which is why I went for the 1000w PSU so that I could upgrade in the future.

"As said above you've obviously picked some of the most high end components, what do you need them for?"

As I said above I won't be able to upgrade for a while and I am pretty new to computer building (This will be my first build) so I just chose some of the most expensive components that I saw featured in gaming builds ( http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/166464-parts-list-for-ultimate-4k-gaming-pc-build-guide/ ) I really wanted something like this inside the Corsair  Obsidian 750D.

I was actually going for a black/green colour scheme but I'm really not worried about that too much as long as I get great performance and reliability as well as durability.

Just looked at the 4790k and I have no idea why I never went for that. Looks made for gaming -.-

Will definitely go for that now after seeing many of you recommend in builds.

Easy overclocking and really high base clock.

Also looked at the ASUS MAXIMUS VI FORMULA and loved the look of that both physically and also through the reviews as well as the SLI support although does it support 3-way SLI configurations?

The latest build that I have updated is this: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=19353494

I know it is an improvement from my first one but there are still things to improve I bet.

Thanks for all your help everyone sorry for replying so late.
