Hey everyone!

The final shipment of parts for my build should be here by Monday or Tuesday. I was wondering how much time to allot for my first build. I work second shift, four to midnight, and don't know if I should wait for the weekend to start assembling everything. Here is my build for anyone who is curious. Thanks!

Yeah guys sorry, I am looking for time. How long did it take you for your first builds? I've heard about 3 to 4 hours.

If you're incredibly enthusiastic about your first custom pc build, probably less then a total hour. The lazy man like me takes a while :3

I don't think three to four is necessary, even for your first time which usually takes a lot longer than any subsequent builds. My first build took about two hours, I think.

First build? Couple hours, could be a day or two if you include OS installation, troubleshooting, hardware testing (better to find out early than later when your 30 day warranty with the store is over) and other little things.

Not sure why you get a high end i7 4770k with a lower end GTX660, though. Seems like an odd combination to me, can't be video editing, work or gaming with that. If it is for gaming, there's just no advantage of taking the 4770k over a i5 4670k. For a workstation both makes no sense and if it's a video editing rig, a more power GPU would be needed as well... But hey, it's your money and you're not looking for advices either.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Bazzite

my first build took about 4 hours, but felt like 10 minutes.

I took my sweet time and looked up guides for every major component

the OS install was the quickest part for me because I've done it dozens of times for different operating systems.

INTEL CORE I5 4670K | NVIDIA GTX 980 | NOCTUA NH-L9i | GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI | KINGSTON 120GB V300

Putting everything together - under an hour

Cable management - half an hour

Windows/drivers/programs - around 1 hour, depends.

So everything should be ready in 3-4 hours.

4-8h. If you want to be careful and learn its better to do it in parts. Like first base cablemanagement and test build. Then build inside case and finalize cables. Last OS.

Thanks for the answers guys! @TetraSky I saw that the 660 had really good reviews and could max out a few games. My thought process was that it was better than no card at all and my video editing usually isn't too intensive. Is it really considered a low end card? The 4770K was for my recording sessions. I needed the hyper threading so my DAW could run a bit smoother.

If you haven't seen them yet Linus has amazing build guides that explain how to put a PC together. It may help you a lot since its your first build, so I highly recommend you watch one or two of them ( http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8mG-RkN2uTwlcLU_rv29Gt4578XfgJm_) but otherwise have fun with it!
