I'm thinking about what would be a good way to increase storage on my computer when I've got the chance and since the idea has peaked my interest right now. And that hard drives aren't constantly changing so why not?

I'll have a budget of about €200 to increase storage. But do want some redundancy.

My thought was to use 4x WD Reds in RAID 10.

But what would you guys do?

4x Seagate drives in RAID 10.

Current Rig: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Abit IN9-32MAX nForce 680i board, Galaxy GT610 1GB DDR3 gpu, Cooler Master Mystique 632S Full ATX case, 1 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA and 1x200gb Maxtor SATA drives, 1 LG SATA DVD drive, Windows 10. All currently runs like shit :D

Do you want to get those drives on your current system or you are looking for a NAS? I'd get them out of the gaming PC (as I have mine), even a crappy old PC with a decent Ethernet NIC does a great job.

Anyway, the WD red are quiet and reliable, get those :)

I'll go with the "do as I say, not as I do" thing. I'd rather buy a WD for more assurance with reliability.

I'm just planning to throw them in my system because I'll only have so much to spend for a total upgrade and would rather not build a NAS.

I'm also dumb when it comes to those too.

I know, but having more stuff on the case, using more power, making more heat and blocking the precious front panel airflow doesn't seem appealing.

If you have a crappy old PC laying around, just throw a 30$ NIC on it, slam the hard drives, and install FreeNAS or similar, it's easier than it looks.

I don't, that's the problem D:

That does mean that I have to buy a case, mobo, cpu, ram, nic, etc. It takes away from my budget.
