New monitor Setup

Kitten

Hey guys!

I'm am looking to upgrade my dual monitor setup in the coming months, as I've recently bought a new PC, and I'm looking for some advice. :)

I have seen the new 21:9 monitors at CES this year and would love one of these to replace two monitors, although some specs I have seen suggest they do no support above 60hz, and some games I play do not support 21:9 yet. :(

My requirements are, for my primary gaming monitor:

- 75 - 120hz

- 23" 16:9 (or 21:9 if above 60hz) 1080p full HD minimal

- IPS Preferable, although I haven't seen many IPS supports 120hz

- Good positioning function

- Matt to screen finish

Secondary monitor, for image and video editing, movies and TV, browsing etc...

- 23" 16:9 1080p full HD minimal

- IPS

Any personal experience or pointers are great :) I have done alot of research and there are so many options. Thanks!!

  • Graphite 600T White
  • P8Z77-V Pro
  • H70 cooled i5 3570k - 4.8ghz
  • Palit GTX660ti Jetstream - 2GB
  • 16GB Corsair PC3 - 1600MHz
  • Intel 120GB SSD
  • 1TB + 500GB HDD
  • Corsair CX 750w 80+ Bronze
  • Logitech G9x <3
  • Logitech G19 - Never worked properly
  • A place to store one DVD or CD - I'm yet to find a use for it
  • Many fans - Coolermaster and Corsair
  • Minuscule amount of dust - To be removed

You really do make our lives difficult don't you? :P The only 120hz monitor that has an IPS panel I know of is a 27" Asus VG27AH, unfortunately that's 27". For a gaming monitor I'd recommend the BenQ 2420T. It's a TN panel but it's ideal for gaming, supporting both 120Hz and 3D with a response time of something like 2ms GTG.

For an IPS display, if you want a full on panel that is designed for really good photo editing, the Asus PA28Q fits the bill. However it is a 16:10 screen because it accommodates a complete A4 page vertically for things like magazine editing in media houses. However it does come at a cost of anywhere between $4-$500. If you want to cheap out on an IPS panel, the LG IPS235P is more up your alley; 1080P, 16:9, 60Hz and about $200.
