So... I did a stupid

Go to solution Solved by menendez1293,

User name. The PC name is correct, Phills 4790k.

I did however spell my last name wrong on the account.

I am hoping its just the local but I guess I am not sure.

Go to control panel -> User accounts -> User Accounts -> Manage user accounts -> highlight your account, and click properties. In there you should be able to change it.

Ok so a couple weeks ago I built a new machine with 8.1 pro from G2A. Well I just noticed that I spelled my last name wrong, and now it is displayed on login and on the metro start screen. I know, stupid things, but I must have been excited to get it running and let my fingers get a bit out of control.

Is there any way to change the name on the account?

Thanks in advance. I am a little embarrassed that I screwed that part up.

Not true, A PC name can be changed by going to control panel -> System and Security -> System -> Click the Change settings to the right of the window under the Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings -> Then click change -> and type it in the box that says Computer name. It will ask for a restart and after that it is changed.

If its just a local account you should be able to change the account name in the account section in control panel

If you have a Microsoft account go to PC Settings > Accounts > Your account and then you should see a either a change name button if you used a Local account or a more options one if you used a Microsoft and there there is an option to change your name.

No problem, hopefully that worked for you. I have typed my name wrong before, kind of embarrassing when someone else notices it before you.
