I'm building a pc with

 

CPU:

AMD FX-Series 2 FX-8350 

 

RAM:2x KINGSTON HYPERX 8GB RAMKIT 2X4GB DDR3 NON-ECC

 

Motherboard:

Asus M5A97 LE R2.0

 

GPU:

Asus Radeon R9 280X

 

1 SSD, 1 HDD.

 

Will 600w be enough or an overkill?

Enough. And you will have some headroom for overclocking, too.

But dont overclock on that mobo, basicly that mobo isn´t even good enough to handle the FX8350 on stock.

As many have stated already, 600W is going to be plenty.

 

This is my system power draw, from the wall socket, with Prime95 and Unigine Heaven running simultaneously.

I have all the power-saving features disabled...so the CPU and all is going at full speed all the time.

 

 

System specs:

• FX-8350 @4.8GHz 1.4V
• Sapphire Radeon HD Dual-X 7970 (aka R9-280X) @115 /1500 with ~1.3V
• ASUS Crosshair V Formula motherboard
• 2 x 120GB SSD's + 1TB WD Black HDD
• 8 fans in total (including the two on my CPU cooler). Out of the 8, 5 are LED's.
• Corsair TX850 (v1)

542W from the wall and an 80 PLUS Bronze Power supply...which is about 85% efficiency at 50% load. That means it's about 460W that is actually being used by the system.
