Apple A8 VS Tegra K1

WhiteSkyMage

Apple will be coming with their iPhone 6 and maybe another iPad this 2H 2014 with their new A8 chip ...Nvidia is well making its own tablet with the Tegra K1. for now only Xiamo MiPad has a TK1 chip. Which device do you think would be more powerful - a new Apple iPad or a tablet with Tk1 chip?

The K1 looks amazing and blows everything away

Apple doesn't seem to be focusing on more cores/high clock rates

Just more efficient designed and the most GPU cores they can fit in there

with the Metal API (an now support in Unreal Engine) that seems logical.

Comparison of SOCs is really pointless. Why? Well because I doubt you will ever be in the situation where you can choose between 2 different SOCs on a standard device with no software differences. So in all likelihood a slower SOC will be just as powerful as the powerful SOC because the slower one will be utilized more efficiently to produce optimal results in software and user experiences.

That's why, generally, IOS has a better experience, despite the fact that the SOC is usually "technically" less powerful.

Powerful SOCs are usually a victim to poorly coded software or software that is designed to be cross-compatible and so less efficient. I can't explain this well enough here without going into fragmentation.

Comb it with a brick
