What? You can use more than 1 wallpaper at the same time?

MacBook Pro 15' 2018 (Pretty much the only system I use)

Not nearly enough RAM, and a 5 year old processor.  Mostly a RAM issue, but a little bit CPU as well.

QUOTE ME OR I PROBABLY WON'T SEE YOUR RESPONSE

So, what's the point of this thread, exactly? You have an old PC with really low specs - like, less than minimal for windows 8 and then you say you've already bought parts for a new PC...

  • 1 month later...

I have Windows 8 Pro x64.

While using multiple desktop wallpapers my desktop kinda lags hard...even with two wallpapers.

Is it a fault of CPU or GPU?

As there have been no recent replies I thought I might ask the question. Have you fixed/found the cause of the desktop lag?

I am currently having an issue on my three monitor setup (not nvidia surround), just extended displays. My issue is exclusively in-game, i.e. battlefield 4, dota 2, etc . Occasionally when the wallpaper changes to the next in the desktop slide-show it lags my games for a split second. This is definitely caused by the desktop slide-show as the games are crystal smooth when a single wallpaper is applied and immediately returns when the slide-show is applied. I have found that it seems to be a multi-monitor issue, when I unplug the two side monitors, the ingame lag stops with slideshow enabled. Wallpaper rotation speed (i.e. every 10, 30 or minutes, etc) does not affect the lag, no matter what speed.

I only use my middle display as the full-screen (not borderless or windowed) gaming monitor, the two side ones are left at a desktop level. I store all of my wallpapers on my SSD so access speeds should not be an issue. 20/100/1000 wallpapers slide-show size also does not affect the lag, no matter the number of wallpapers in the slide-show the lag is present. All of my wallpapers are under 0.5mB and are all jpeg.

I tested with all programs disabled or closed but the lag still is present.

Specs

Windows 8.1 x64

i7 2600k

8gB RAM

500 Samsung Evo SSD

2x 770 GTX SLI

3x Dell Ultrasharp U2414H

1KW PSU

Anywho any insight or advise is greatly appreciated. I might format my SSD and reinstall windows to see if it is a windows error related issue that my have cropped up in my system.
