I used to bow hunt, but two shoulder reconstructions put an end to that.

Man, that's a bummer...

Seriously though, only tried archery a couple of times and needless to say I was pretty bad... lol.

Hmm... yeah, you can't start something and instantly be good :P except sometimes you can...but this isn't one of those times

Even though it may seem so from my title, but no, not really. I practiced archery for some time a few years back and it was fun, but I don't think I have the talent for it and due to safety precautions in a 2 hour course you only get to shoot a couple of times, which I didn't really like.

In medieval games though I almost always find myself with a bow in hand. To my title, it comes from a game called M&B Warband where you could train units called Sarranid Master Archers, which used a compact bow which didn't deal much damage but they were dead nuts accurate with it and they were the fastest firing ranged units in the game, my friends favorite. We then played BF4 together as a sniper duel and as I'm a pretty good shot in that game and try to fire as fast as possible, he called me the Master Archer and it stayed.

That's cool, were you using a compound or recurve?

Predominately a recurve if I recall correctly but I did enjoy both. As with most things I tried to be as varied as possible. What about yourself?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

haha,

I guess it depends on where you go shooting for the safety precautions to matter, most of the times I go to my club, it's pretty free so I could pretty much shoot, retrieve, shoot, retrieve, without any breaks in between.

In games with bows (fc3, tomb raider) I usually pick them over other guns because of the ridiculous benefits they get, like retrievable ammo, insta-kill even with shots to the ankle, and their supposed "silence" (andthey are very much not silent, but obviously quieter than a gun) as well as the "personal connection" feeling

I shoot recurve because apparently it was better to "learn the correct discipline and skills"according to the coach before I pick up compound, which I hopefully will when I get better at shooting.

Still pretty inaccurate now

Three of my best friends are archers and they do practice twice every week and I decided to follow couple of training sessions with them. I had quite some fun and it was easy to learn.

Awesome!

 :P

I could never decide if I liked recurve or compound better. Compound bows are nice, but require less skill to use, and are more prone to breakdown, but they are alot of fun to shoot.

I learned, well self taught, on a fiberglass recurve that my friends dad had. Took me forever to figure out how not to lose the skin on my bowhand wrist lol

Cool!

Did you start straight away with compound?

um no i tried recurve but i found that you could get alot more power out of a compound bow and i liked the can system and how i could hold the bow for ages until a dear or the wind died down, i also found recurve to be alot hard to find supplies for.

Yeah that's true that you could get a lot more power out of it, and dat compound bow let off 0_o

Well, apparently recurve is harder than compound to master and if you develop good skills with recurve then it's transferable to compound but not the other way round (never tried compound so I don't actually know).

So yeah, when I get better groupings and consistency with recurve I might start to pick up compound for fun.

I shot myself in the hand with a sharpened wooded dowel with a long bow when i was younger... still have a scar from that. As it turns out you shouldn't keep resharpening them when they snap... it got to short and slipped off right when i went to shoot it and cut right through the top of my hand. lol

Aside from that no i do not practice archery lol

I've got a compound, though there is no place where I can use it, unless I go to one of my friends' house, who also likes archery but has the same dilemma as me.
