Upgrading Laptop SSD (SATA II or III?) - HP dv4-4048ca

I have an HP dv4-4048ca and it's time to remove the HDD and upgrade it to an SSD.

 

Laptop Specifications

 

I am very new to this and have never even opened the laptop up. Luckily, I found a tutorial on how to replace the storage disk.

However, I'm not sure what SSD to get. Does it support SATA II or III?

 

Any recommendations for a 240-256 GB SSD for this laptop? Currently looking at Crucial M500 240GB but not sure about compatibility.

they are backwards compatible

 

you can install the SSD

I don't know if it's SATA II or SATA III but as the above post says it's backwards compatible, and still an improvement (although not by as much, it's still big).
