Drop down to i5 and maybe cheaper mobo and get ssd. that'll give u more benefit overall than an i7 if you're only using it for gaming.

Do you really need an i7 for gaming?  Your bottleneck will definitely be the GPU at this rate, but I suppose you could upgrade that in the future rather easily...

AMD FX-6300 @ 4.5ghz (1.332v) | Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO | Asus M5A97 R2.0 | Kingston HyperX 16GB @ 1600mhz | MSI Radeon R9 290 Twin Frozr

Just gaming? Go ahead and get the Xeon E3-1231 v3. Not many people know about Xeon's but you save on the cost about $50 since the only difference from a standard 4790(non K) is integrated graphics are not included. I would go with the ASUS Z97-A because even though you may think you don't care about having a silent PC, when you do you'll never want to go back. Fan Xpert IS worth it. Go with the Phanteks Enthoo Pro instead, should be back in stock soon. Only get these things if they are available to you for a good cost.

The 580 can still run todays games at medium settings probably, no need to switch just yet.

it can run them at high mabye ultra, but I feel that when buying a new PC you want it to feel new and good for a couple years, because the 580 will start to get out of date in a year or so.

Highly reccommend that you get an unlocked processor. (Anything with a K at the end of the number ex. i7 3770k i7 4770k) Also an SSD for OS so you don't have to mirror the drives when you decide to change it.

Case:Define R4 | MOBO:ASRock z75 Pro 3 | CPU:i7-3770k 4.0GHz | CPU Cooler:H100i | GPU:970 Strix | RAM:Hyper X 16GB |

Peripherals:ATH-M50x Limited Blue Edition | K95 RGB | M65 RGB | Blue Yeti MIC | (3x)1920x2080 Acer Monitors
