r9 280 or r9 280x

Go to solution Solved by simtransporter,

If you want to save a bit of money and are willing to do some overclocking then you should be happy with a 280. If it's anything like the 7950 it should overclock pretty well.

If you are willing to pay a little bit more and at the same time you are not so keen on overclocking then go with the 280x I guess.

Hi,

..would you spend and extra $61 for the r9 280x?!(WHY) .. or just go with r9 280?! running with a fx 8320

R9 280x has higher clock speeds but that is the only difference.

The 280x is better but not with much. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-280X-vs-Radeon-R9-280

What's your CPU? If you don't have a decent CPU, you're better off with the R9 280.

I'd go with a 280 then, and save $60, if you had an i5 it would work better for gaming, thus allowing the 280x's full potential.

How about some research before giving advice? And not using GPUBoss?

The 280 has 1792 stream processors and the 280X has 2048. They are basically the 7950 and 7970 rebranded.

Then how about not advising people on which card to buy? Its their money, you don't know if they had to work hard to aquire it. People comes to this forum, looking for the best advice they can get to make a good buying descision. Now, if you don't care, just don't post. Its that simple. If you can't help him, then why even bother? This forum has really gone to shit thanks to people like you.
