question about how hdds store data.

so you know how in 6tb drives, there are 6 platters. or in a 2tb drive is there 2 platters? also how does a hdd store data? like if you have 100gbs on a 1tb drive, does it store it all in like the 1/10 outer edge of the platter? or like all over it.

Data is stored all over it. Thats why you need to defrag files that are all over the disk and put the fragments in the same place so they can be accessed faster. It's not always exactly 1tb per platter. Some have more, others ave less. Less platters=faster and less noise/heat/power consumption.

Different drives will have different platter configurations.  Some use multiple 320GB platters, some use multiple 500GB platters, some use 1TB platters.
