Can you set a GPU's fan rpm to zero while it's idleing using something like MSI afterburner?

Egoist

So I'll be buying a GTX780ti (Or an 880/ti if I can wait) and I was wondering if I could do something like the zero rpm mode on the Strixx cards with a regular GPU. Is that possible?

MSI afterburner only allows me to set my fan speed to 30% min on my 660

I think there is a minimum rpm for GPU fans...

It will heat up too much to be passively cooled though, even at idle.

It's never really going to be idling. Even browsing is GPU accelerated.

So, you shouldn't in the first place.

That's what I meant when I said ideling.

The point though is that your GPU isn't idling, it's still doing work. Work produces heat, which needs to be dissipated, and gaming graphics cards aren't designed for passive cooing.
