I am planning a build for the end of august. I am not sure between a i7-4790k and i7-4930k. This build is for video editing special effects 3d work and gaming. My builds: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/jedylan/saved/ytfmP6 and http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/jedylan/saved/X8ZzK8 My question. Is the ~500$ difference worth it.?

Personally I think you shouldn't get the X79 based pc, not all of the components are well balanced.

Stick with the haswell or haswell refresh devil's canyon. I think you should state some of your needs and elaborate on them.

Some of the hardware you've chosen isn't quite necessary but that's my opinion.

The 4930k is better at video editing and hs a lot more bandwidth, however here's what I would do: wait for the x99 line and get a 5820, it should be a 6 core with a price around 360 bucks, much cheaper than the 4930k currently is. So, wait, it's worth it.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

If you're asking whether or not you need the extra cores, you probably don't.
