Did anyone else have a point in their life when you was REALLY into yoyo's and you tried learning tricks? Or was that just me?

 

I only ask this because I want a yoyo again. Hmm... hope that isn't childish.

I just found one in my house the other day and just stood there for like 3 hours using it, before realising I am absolutely crap at it, and threw it across the room where it still lays

when i was in elementary school it was one of the things that started and ended rather fast but it was like a school wide movement just like pogs and marbles lol

Ah haha yeah I dont think I had anything good

 

My school eventually banned them because kids were essentially gambling with them, ... but then pokemon cards came out and it started all over again. People getting beaten up for their shinies!

lol marbles and pogs were all a form of gambling you had to play for keeps lol

 

but we never had a problem with pokemon cards since their was a liquor store that sold fakes across the street from the school

I had all the coke-a-cola yoyos and at a time in the eighties there were these new yoyos with lights in them and they came on when you mad the yoyo "walk" and "sleep" and would turn off when you pull it back up. Ahhhhh the days when children still played outside, such wonderful days.

Damn you people!

I went down into my storage unit to see if i could find my POGS (yes it deserves a capitalized name!)

And i found a ***** yoyo instead!

I did. Not only that but we had like little "seasons" when I was growing up when one year (could have been less, seemed like a year cause I was a kid) we had yoyos in fashion and being sold in convenience stores and everywhere and then it would switch to trompos (this in case you're wondering):

I was better at the yoyo but actually liked the trompos a bit more but was very difficult, yet rewarding, to do tricks on those.
