Replacement for Siberia v2

Go to solution Solved by Typho,

Razer Kraken Pro?(not a big fan of Razer)

Although I have heard that the mic isn't especially good.

(I own Steelseries Siberia V2)

Logitech G430, Dolby 7.1 surround sound.

Plantronics Gamecom Dolby 780 surround sound? (Some people complain about the quality of the metal pieces, which are holding the earcups)

Personally I would just recommend going back to Siberia V2,

because sometimes you may not even know what is waiting for you on the other side of the hill. (Steelseries fanboy B) )

But well If you want to try a new headset the 5HV3 sounds a pretty good deal for you, because the cord does look pretty durable.

So I looked quickly about the buyers thoughts about the audio quality. Some of them liked and of course some of them were pretty disappointed, for example the audio quality for music.(useless note from me)

It's hard for me to recommend a headset which I haven't used and I am not familiar with. So I think you should create a new thread where you ask "is the Steelseries 5HV3 audio quality good" or just wait for someone to pop out here to give you some information about it. Or you could look from the buyers thoughts for example from the Amazon.(You may already have done this, but oh well.) But let me warn you there are "pretty" different kinds of thoughts about them, so don't take the pros and cons so seriously. So you want to place yourself in a neutral position.

This post may not have been any use for you, but at least I shared some of my thoughts. ;)

Hello,

Just signed up to ask for some help. For the past few weeks I have beeing using the Steelseries' Siberia v2. It was confortable and sounded relatively good but apparently my cat disagreed and now new ones are needed. Instead of ordering the same model again I am looking for recommendations for headset that cost less than €65 or $80. The SteelSeries 5Hv3 looks good because of the disassembling feature and espeically the cabel which can't be harmed that easily by my cat. The question is, does it sound as good as the Siberia v2?

Almost forgot to mention that it's mostly for music and movies. Occasionally I play MMORPGs and Shooter though.

Well can't nobody recommend anything?

Headsets aren't much loved in the Audio subforum. If you're interested in the features of the 5Hv3 then just go for it.

Kingston HyperX or Qpad QH85/QH90 are much better but a little bit more than your budget. Superlux headphones are also good if you can find them and pair them with a Zalman clip on mic.
