Could i push 2k surround?

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

whatabout 1 4k in the middle and 2 1080p on either side?

You need all monitors to be the same resolution for Nvidia surround.

Right, k lol. Though 1440p is 2.5K.

Anyways with 2 GTX 780 Tis you'd expect 30-50 FPS on medium I'd say. Definitly turn MSAA (or any AA for that matter) off.

In total 1440p surround would be 7.5K, a 4K and 2 1080p monitors would be 6K so effectively you'd be able to gain 1/5 of the performance with 1440p surround if you were to downscale to 6K.

So you would be able to expect 35-60 FPS on medium/high without AA.

I suggest you get a 1440p monitor and then 2 1080p ones on the outside, or just a 1080p surround.

Edit:

What do you wish to gain from the 4K monitor??? Just looking for a higher pixel density?? Or would you be using professional tool on it??

That is not how this works...

The "k" rating is just average horizontal resolution. You CANNOT add them up like that. Horizontal resolution =/= total amount of pixels.

you'd have a hard enough time running games at max settings at 4K with dual 780Ti's that the 2 1080p displays would put you into the medium settings realm if the more demanding games. Games like Bioshock Infinite might still be playable, but that is a definite might.

Two 780tis can run 4k at over 60fps with high settings as long as all AA is off. You really don't need any AA for 4k.

At medium settings yes. You mean 1440p surround right?

2560x1440 is actually called 2.5k

I recon you should avoid using more than 4K pixels, having a 4K monitor and another 2 1080p ones is really, really demanding, I don't even know if 3GB of VRAM would be enough for that. I recon you should start off with 1/2 1080p monitors, see how you go with it and then decide if you really want to get a 4K monitor.

Ermm, I was just using them as a measure, they are all 16:9 aspect ratio monitors, so I was kinda using 1080p as 1K, and a 4K display is fairly 4 1080p monitors in one, so I just 4+1+1 = 6K

Turns out all monitors must be the same resolution for Nvidia Surround(thanks @Enderman)

yup :)

3x 1440p monitors is a bit harder than a single 4k to run. If you go for a single 4k and 2 1080p side displays you will only be able to game on the center 4k monitor.

I would say go for triple 1440p, high settings still looks great.

thanks for your opinion but your ignoring the question.

humm, i would say at medium setting, but it is almost now worth it at that point, the smallest 1440p monitor is 27" and and you want 3 so games will not look that good at that size on medium, if you want surrounbd i would get 3 1080p 144hz monitors or 1 lg 34UM65 (21:9 1440p monitor)
