I have just overclocked my 3570K from 4.2GHz to 4.5GHz and I have had the same issue with windows detecting my clock speed.

It says max speed is 4.5GHz which is right, but current speed 5.90GHz.

And when it was at 4.2GHz

Anyone know why?

(And people freaking out about me needing to use CPU-Z, I do use it, read the comments first)

Its windows task manager that sucks. DO NOT use task manager to monitor your system information, it is not correct. Use proper software like CPU-Z or HWBot.

Yeah, use CPUZ

Yea I have been using CPU-Z forever. I use that for overclocking. I was just using Task Manager for some stress testing.

Windows 8 has some glitches and this is one of them, click View and then refresh. Use AIDA64 for accuracy.
