ASUS RoG G550JK Gaming Notebook & GIVEAWAY

There is nothing special to like in Asus G550JK. But If it comes to this particular sample from review it has to be signatures from LTT and TS which makes it unique and increases it's value... for me at least :)

Available for pre-order now

Taiwanese PC maker Asustek recently introduced a new gaming laptop under its Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand. The ROG G550JK-DS71 is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop with a 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor and an Nvidia GPU that can be overclocked (up to 5 percent) on the fly using the company’s TurboMaster technology, Asus said in a press release Thursday.

Available for pre-order now from the likes of Amazon, B&H, Newegg and TigerDirect, the $1,099 G550JK-DS71 packs a 15.6-inch full HD LED-backlit IPS display, Intel Core i7 4710HQ processor (2.5-3.5GHz), 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM,  GeForce GTX 850M with 2GB DDR3 VRAM, 750GB HDD (7,200 rpm), DVD Super-Multi optical disc drive and HD webcam. It measures 15.1 x 10.0 x 1.1 inches and weighs 6 pounds.

For what it’s worth, ten of these G550JK notebooks were part of a recent world record attempt for the “highest elevation LAN party.” Here are the details, as reported in the press release: “HighLANder, an event hosted by Linus Media Group and Tek Syndicate on June 23rd, 2014 in Leadville Colorado, used the ROG G550JK gaming notebook to scale Mt. Elbert, the highest peak of the Rocky Mountains at 14,440 ft., followed by wirelessly connecting via an ASUS RT-AC68U router at the summit in order to set a world record for highest elevation LAN party. The elevation was certified by expert witness Elizabeth Thompson, a PHD student in Atmospheric Meteorology, and has been submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records for review and certification.”

My laptop has 3rd generation Intel dual core processor and 2 GiB RAM and I never came close to a gaming laptop. This laptop here is a gaming beast and I like it being 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor and an Nvidia GPU. My friend has a gaming laptop and I love its Nvidia GPU. This gaming laptop here impresses me on two accounts

1. 4th generation processor

2. Nvidia GPU

The IPS display is awesome. Exactly what you want when you are out and about and using your laptop in all kinds of weird positions.

My favorite color is red and the notebook is based around red so that's a big point to me. I also really like the capability to have a notebook instead of a desktop, much more portable.

A thing I like is probably that other than the MacBook Pro - the G550JK is probably my favorite notebooks out there.

Oh, and that display though...

The IPS display is pretty awesome. The viewing angles would help a lot with friends or family while watching movies and playing games.
