Can you list your components please.

You shouldn't be looking for the cheapest 800W power supply. You can get truly awful units for maybe $20, but expect them to explode.

Are you asking for the cheapest good PSU, or just the cheapest one?

And how are you going to buy it (website, local store)?

The best advice ever given to me, regarding computers, was to NEVER cheap out on the PSU. ;)

@Paralectic

JonnyGuru Review: Gutless Wonder V.

I started reaching for the off button on the SM-268, and...

zzzzzzZZZPOW!!!

It gave me a light show I've only seen rivaled by a major fireworks display. And it all happened off camera, blast it. We'll find out what went kablooey on the next page.

Power supplies are well known to explode. At least, the poor ones are anyways.

You can run a crappy 500W unit that can only deliver 300W before exploding in an HTPC or similar situation and have it draw no more than 100W, like many people do, and it can survive years. Doesn't mean it's good. Doesn't mean it can deliver the rated Wattage. Doesn't mean you should keep it.
