Is it worth the extra money for a 780 or the 770 is just fine?

personally i would go with a R9 290

but if i had to chose i'd go with a 770 and save money

Aren't the above sentences kind of contradictory?

Aaaanyway...

Depends on what you want, really. A 770 can handle most games on highest settings on a single 1080p or even 1440p.

if you go for the AMD card with 3 fan cooler

you won't have overheating issues

look at Sapphire or PowerColor models

the R9 290 is very close to the performance with the GTX780

if you are on a budget yet want to game at 1080P Ultra or higher res

Get the AMD card

no I am serious

What resolution and what type of games are you playing? 780 will let you push 1080p to the max, the 770 will get you close but you may have to sacrifice some minor details. Its more worth it to get the 780 over the 770 than it is to get the 780TI over the 780, if that makes sense.
