Recording at 60fps with QuickSync

MrTomnus

I wanted to record some gameplay in 60fps now that YouTube supports it. However I've been having some trouble with playing back the video. In recording everything is fine and the game runs perfectly smoothly. But when I watch the video it pauses at intervals. Because I've doubled the framerate I also doubled the bitrate to 40000kbps to get the same quality. Then I tried going down to 30000kbps but I get the same problem. Then at 20000kbps I still get the same problem, but not as bad. Lower than that and there's no point in recording at 60fps because it's not good enough quality. I check the OBS preview and I get no dropped frames...

Is it Quicksync's fault, or that my CPU can't handle 60fps, even at the same bitrate I was using when recording at 30? I have a 4670k at stock speed.

I'm not really experienced in this stuff but one thing you could check is if your HDD that you record to is fast enough.

I tried recording 60fps 1080p with the amd raptr thing and it works ok, but it's not a constant 60fps. It's tricky ain't it.

Good point... I guess I could try recording to the SSD, but I won't be doing that often. I'll give it a go.
